![]() A painful defeat for Favre and Minnesota / Photo:NFL.com That was a status update from a friend of mine on facebook last night. I couldn’t think of a better way to sum up yesterday’s NFC Championship. For those keeping count, Brett Favre’s last pass in each of his last three playoff games ended in an interception. Those, then, led to defeat. It happened in 2004 in Philadelphia. Likewise in 2007 vs. the Giants. And last night in New Orleans. It has happened throughout his entire career. For the most part, he had been able to control his gunslinger attitude as he matured as a quarterback. I remember when he was starting out, he got a standing ovation for throwing a pass away in a pre-season game. He threw for a lot of yards, and a lot of touchdowns. He won a lot of games. He also threw a lot of interceptions. And it is those three ill-advised passes that I’ll remember. Minnesota has some very painful playoff memories: The Saints in the Super Bowl is like the Union de Curtidores making the finals. The Saints have been around since 1967. They have hosted 5 playoff games. 5. In 43 years.
